Sans is the deuteragonist of Axetale.
He married Frisk once she entered her adult years sometime around in the 14 years she lived in the Underground. However, Sans forced her to absorb Toriel's Soul and leave when Omega Flowey caused a glitch and allowed bits of the Void to sweep in and infect monsters, causing them to go insane and turn on one each other by eating them.
As Sans was distraught of losing his wife, he was sent in a coma by an enraged Undyne who socked him in the head, leaving a giant hole. After it healed many years later to where the fractures remained around his eye, Sans awoke, taken over by the Hunger.
However, Aliza, his daughter who he conceived with Frisk before she fled, landed in the Underground after escaping from her grandmother's "care". Upon knowing who she was, Sans vowed to help Aliza escape, together.

Personality[]
Before the Glitch, Sans was a skeleton who would always love to crack jokes and puns. When Frisk fell in the Underground and promised to stay in order to help find away to break everyone free, Sans was inspired and found a new hope, getting back to science as a result. However, forcing Frisk to leave caused him to fall into a massive state of depression that not even Papyrus could talk him out of. After somewhat recovering from Undyne damaging the left side of his head, Sans was infected by the Hunger. He became insane and sought to eat, almost killing Papyrus, but thanks to the latter, he tried his best to remain the same. Eventually, Papyrus ended up the same way, causing Sans to revert back to his old state. However, when Sans met his daughter, Aliza, he recovered some of his sanity in order to protect her. Yet, whenever he tenses up or remembers Frisk in a dire state, he briefly gets crazed again. In the end, he always pulls through, for Aliza's sake.
Appearance[]
Sans wears a bloodstained blue jacket with a grey turtle neck shirt underneath, gym shorts and sneakers. After being attacked by Undyne, Sans had a huge part of his head missing. While he was able to regenerate some of the damage thanks to Alphys, his left eye has yet to heal from the many cracks and fractures around it. His right eye is blue and his left his orange, which glows brighter than ever if he were to snap. He frequently wears his hood up to hide his face from others. He also wears the heart locket Frisk used to wear during her time in the Underground.
Abilities[]
Sans is shown to be quite fast, as whenever he hunted monsters, he'd catch them in seconds if he felt like doing so. He mostly uses traps to immobilize his prey first, however. He wields an axe with a spine for a handle. He can still use Blue Magic, Bones, and Gaster Blasters. Whenever he summons one, its four Blasters melted together with giant horns and without any jaws.

Aliza is Sans' daughter. When they first met after she fell into the Underground, Sans could immediately tell who she was and happily took her in. As any good parent (besides the twisted demeanor), Sans loves his daughter and is very protective of her in this war torn environment.

Gaster[]
Sans is Gaster's oldest son and was once his old assistant. While their relationship for the most part is unknown, it is assumed that the two were close and Sans was sad when he lost him. When the Glitch occurred, bits of the Void seeped into the Underground, Gaster included. Only he instead chose to protect his family rather than attack, showing that he does indeed love him and his family.
